Elpida, STMicroelectronics, TSMC to Expand Market Presence in India

Recently, Japan-based Elpida and Europe-based STMicroelectronics separately announced that they plan to recruit more staff in their India R&D centers, while TSMC claimed its plan to open a liaison office in Bangalore, India, aiming for better market presence in India. Elpida stated that it plans to double its R&D staff in India to 30 employees, up from the current 11 by 2008, while STMicroelectronics plans to increase staff stationed at its Greater Noida R&D center, from the current 1700 to 3000 workers within next three years.
